Wednesday, 8 March 2023
Venue:
Costessey, near Norwich
Tutor:
Julie King
Cost:
£240 subscribers | £300 non-subscribers
We recommend that students have at least 12 months' experience working with their council and have undertaken basic training as a minimum.
CiLCA is best tackled in bite-size sessions, giving you the opportunity to complete the learning outcomes as you go along, we estimate that you will need to commit between 8 -10 hours between each session to complete the necessary work.
We also believe that this course is best delivered face-to-face, giving you the opportunity to fully engage in the sessions and to network with fellow attendees. For those unable to travel to some or all of the sessions, there will be the ability to connect remotely.
The course will strengthen your knowledge and enrich your council, and passing CiLCA is one of the two eligibility criteria in order to obtain the Power of General Competence.
We advise that all students have a learning agreement in place with their councils (which we can supply).
The qualification is administered through the Society of Local Council Clerks and there is an additional fee to them which pays for the marking and accreditation of your work - https://www.slcc.co.uk/qualification/cilca/.
Students will need access to resources such as Local Council Administration and the Clerks' Manual.
About the tutor
Julie King has been a clerk since 2005 working for several councils during this time. She is an experienced tutor and partner of Norfolk PTS. Julie is in the unusual position of taking the CiLCA qualification twice - first of all in 2008 and then again in 2019 to ensure she's completely up-to-date with this qualification. Julie explains topics knowledgeably and clearly, with years of wisdom from being a practising clerk herself.
20 CPD points are available for students who gain the qualification.
Notes:
Julie always receives excellent feedback from her CiLCA courses. We'll happily put you in touch with someone who has recently passed their CiLCA having attended our course.
Feedback from our recent CiLCA courses:
Having been a Clerk for more than 15 years and two other attempts to complete the CiLCA via another route - I finally with the help, guidance and commitment of Julie King succeeded. Without Julie's continuous and ongoing support I may have given up again.
Attending the CiLCA course was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and resulted in both my knowledge and confidence growing far more than I could have anticipated. Thank you for all of your guidance, support and encouragement.
Excellent and informative - I learned a lot more by attending this course.
Very well executed.....it's amazing how many things you learn and could improve on.
