This course explains the elections process from encouraging public interest to inducting new councillors after the election.

Course content
Understanding the elections process: nominations, who can become a councillor, the elections timetable, the clerk's role and the pre-election period (previously known as 'purdah')
Encouraging your council to be proactive prior to the election to attract prospective councillors
After the election, understanding what happens next: the importance of the annual meeting of the parish/town council, knowing the dates when this meeting must be held and essential items for the agenda
Ensuring new councillors hit the ground running: tips for your local induction, forms to complete and formal training
What you can do if you still have vacancies after the election: understanding the co-option process and by-elections.
Recommended for clerks who are new to the elections process and those who would like an update since the last elections in 2019.
