INTRODUCTION TO CiLCA
This 2.5 hour information session is designed to help you find out about the CiLCA qualification and work out whether you are ready to take the course in September
The Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA) is awarded at Level 3 of the National Qualification Framework. Assessment for the qualification includes written explanations and an accurate and detailed understanding of all aspects of the work undertaken by parish and town councils, presented as a portfolio. Working with local councils is a challenging role and requires knowledge of the core roles of law, financial governance, management skills and community engagement.
This introductory session is designed to give clerks and their deputies, or anyone else working with local councils, an opportunity to dip into this qualification, realise the time commitment and also the advantages of undertaking the course and to learn about the support available.
Julie King, the course tutor, will explain the background to the qualification and the thirty learning outcomes which make up the portfolio for CiLCA. She will discuss with you training requirements you may have, the assessment process and introduce a learning agreement which you can share with your councils.
By the end of the session, you will not only have a greater understanding of the work involved with compiling a portfolio but also whether or not you would like to register for the full tutor-led CiLCA course starting in September 2020. The course is run over a seven month period and supports you with your portfolio.
