MANAGING THE COUNCIL'S FINANCIAL YEAR-END
Are you a new Clerk/Responsible Financial Officer or just wanting some reassurance about your council’s end of year finances?
This course is recommended for clerks with financial responsibilities who work for small to medium-sized councils with budgets up to £100,000.

By the end of this training you will:
understand the importance of timings and how to make life easier for yourself by completing tasks throughout the year
be clear about the specific roles/duties of the Responsible Financial Officer, Council Chairperson, Internal and External Auditors
understand the importance of the Annual Governance & Accountability Return (AGAR) plus know how to explain variances, prepare a year-end bank reconciliation, know when to sign-off the AGAR and when to advertise electors' rights.
The tutors are experienced clerks with many years of successfully managing council budgets.
