Cringleford Parish Council

12 January 2023

Cringleford Parish Council

We are recruiting for maternity cover for a year to temporarily replace our Administrator and Assistant Parish Clerk, based at The Willow Centre in Cringleford, with potential for permanent employment at the end of the contract.

You will be part of a small and friendly nine person team, where you will manage the bookings and administration for the Pavilion, The Willow Centre and sports fields in Cringleford, and create the relating caretaker schedules.  You will undertake some facility management under the direction of the Parish Clerk and be the first point of call for our caretakers when in the office.  You will manage our Recreation and Amenities Advisory Group (producing papers and writing minutes), and substitute for the Parish Clerk at other meetings in times of absence.  You will also carry out banking on a monthly basis, including providing a report to the Clerk, and completing the monthly bank reconciliation for premises business.

This is a busy job where no two days are ever the same and you will need a friendly, calm and confident manner to manage the needs of our hirers, sports groups, parishioners and Parish Councillors.

The current post holder is planning to leave late March.  To allow a full handover we would ideally like cover to start on w/c 27 February or 6 March 2023. It is planned that the position will run until late-March 2024.  There is potential for a form of this job to become permanent employment – the current post holder plans to come back part-time and at the same time (March 2024) we should be recruiting for a new part-time administrator to help us manage our forthcoming new sports hall and allotments.  The new post and remaining hours from the current job could be merged to create a full time job at that time.

This is a full time position, 37 hours a week, working Monday to Friday.  Occasional evenings are required to attend meetings, usually four Wednesdays per year.  The current post holder generally works 8am – 4pm with a 30 minute lunch break but there is flexibility with this as long as the needs of the buildings are met.

What we can offer:

  • A competitive salary (see job description)

  • Generous annual leave allowance (30 days plus bank holidays)

  • Free on-site parking

  • Membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme

  • Funded winter flu inoculation, if requested

  • All training required, including mandatory first aid and manual handling training

  • Opportunity to work from home two days a week, once your initial training has finished (cover of the Parish Clerk would be required when on annual leave or unwell).

To discuss the vacancy in more detail please contact the Parish Clerk, Sonya Blythe, on 01603 250198 /, or current post holder Samantha on 01603 457222 / To apply please send a CV with a covering letter detailing how you meet the person specification and any other relevant information pertaining to the job description to
