Vacancy at Hockering Parish Council
Hockering Parish Council is looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated person to fill the role of Clerk to the Council and Responsible Financial Officer with effect from 1 September 2021, to assume the post on 30 September 2021. The successful candidate will be expected to :
Arrange, publicise and attend monthly Parish Council meetings which are held on the second Tuesday of the month, arrange one Annual Parish Meeting, including the preparation of agendas and taking the minutes at these meetings. Computer and telephone literacy are essential skills in this post.
Attend to administrative tasks including maintaining paper and electronic files and advising the Parish Council website administrator of items to be put on the the village website, dealing with correspondence and enquiries and overseeing the maintenance of Parish Council assets.
Manage and report the Parish Council’s finances and prepare the accounts for annual audit (usually an internal audit only in accordance with current regulations) . Advise and support seven village Councillors. Supply information to the village council’s magazine. Be able to provide home facilities for the storage of electronic and paper records.
Liaise with District and County Councillors and other organisations as required.
Local Government experience and holding the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA) is desirable but not essential. Full support and Training will be offered.
The post is for 25 hours per month and is based from home, with all meetings usually taking place in the Village Hall. Salary will be paid in accordance with experience and in line with the National Joint Council Salary Scale rates and will range from £12/hour to £12.73 per hour (SCP points 12- 17).
