About Us
Hethersett Parish Council serves one of South Norfolk’s largest and fastest-growing parishes. We’re dedicated to enhancing our vibrant community through effective management of local services, open spaces, and community assets.
The Role
We’re seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Responsible Financial Officer to join our friendly parish office team. In this newly separated role, you’ll take ownership of our financial operations while working collaboratively with the Clerk.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the Council’s financial affairs in line with statutory requirements
Prepare budgets, monitor expenditure and maintain accounting records
Handle VAT returns, banking and investments
Prepare annual accounts and work with auditors
Identify and secure external funding opportunities
Oversee procurement and contracts
Support Finance Committee meetings
What We Offer
Hours: 16 hours per week
Location: Hethersett Village Hall with hybrid working options (upstairs)
Salary: SCP24-25 (£14,801-£15,192 pro rata) or (£34,314-£35,235 Full Time Equivalent)

About You
Certificate in Local Council Finance (or willingness to obtain)
Background in Local Government (advantageous)
Accountancy qualification
Experience in financial management
Knowledge of Scribe accountancy software (desirable)
Strong communication and organisational skills
Proactive, professional approach
