RACKHEATH PROJECTS OFFICER

Rackheath is a Norfolk village to the northeast of Norwich, nestled between Norwich city and the Norfolk Broads.  We manage Jubilee Park, Stracey Sports Park & Pavilion (which includes our council office) and we are currently working towards expanding our public open space and facilities.  Our village has seen much growth in recent years, and this will continue in the future, seeing our community transition from a village to a town.


Rackheath Community Council has an opportunity for a proactive, organised and confident individual to join our small team. The Community Council has a large number of projects underway to improve the amenities and services within the parish and support the development of the community and integration of the new residents at the various new housing developments into the vibrant Rackheath community.


The primary focus of the role is to organise, manage and deliver various projects, in conjunction with the Community Clerk, including CIL capital projects (Community Infrastructure Levy), long term strategy projects, short-term one off projects and long term community development projects. Work to include devising clear objectives, works plans, costings, input for proposal papers for council, liaising with contractors and delivery of agreed outcomes.


The candidate will also be responsible for organising and project managing Community Council events in conjunction with the Community Clerk. This will include negotiating with suppliers, managing operational and administrative functions, preparing event layout and organising entertainment. Attendance at the events.  We currently run 1-2 events a year.


Competence in IT such as Word and Excel are essential, with knowledge of website administration and social media. This is a varied administrative and project management role.


You must be able to work on your own initiative, be willing to acquire new skills and take a proactive interest in the well-being of the community. As Project & Events Officer, you have a pivotal role in building and maintaining a good working relationship with a wide range of stakeholders, including residents, developers, local authorities, and other organisations in and around Rackheath.


Rackheath Community Council will grow in the coming years and the Project & Events Officer will be instrumental to delivering services and facilities to the community as we transition into a Town Council.


This role will normally be based at the council office within the Pavilion in Rackheath.   The position is 14 hours per week, working pattern to be agreed.  Includes occasional evening meetings.


This role is initially for a fixed term of 24 months but may extend beyond this period depending on the extent of projects and events in progress and planned on the anniversary of appointment.

Salary is dependent on experience and qualifications.
