Vacancy - Parish Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer
Location: Home-based with attendance at meetings in Wretton
Hours: 2 hours per. Immediate start.
Meetings: Six times a year, usually on the first Monday of the month in January, March, May, July, September,
and November at 7:30pm in All Saints’ Church Wretton. Additional extraordinary or planning meetings may be
called as needed.
Salary: To be agreed depending on experience.
About Us: Wretton Parish Council is a dedicated team of seven Councillors looking for an enthusiastic and
highly organised individual to join our tribe. As a small but active council, we are committed to serving our
community with diligence and care. We look after the maintenance of street lights, grass cutting and consultation
of local planning.
Job Description: We are seeking a Parish Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer who will play a vital role in
ensuring the smooth running of the council's operations. The successful candidate will work from home and
manage a variety of administrative and financial tasks. This post may also suit a Clerk of another parish looking
to increase their hours.
Key responsibilities include:
● Organise and Attend Council Meetings: Prepare agendas, documents, and minutes for council
meetings.
● Website: Help to maintain the Parish Council website with relevant information.
● Document Management: Maintain and update council files and documents.
● Implementation of Decisions: Ensure that the council’s decisions are implemented effectively.
● Email Correspondence: Handle all email correspondence promptly and professionally.
● Financial Management: Manage council finances, prepare the annual budget, and provide regular
financial reports to the council.
● Advisory Role: Advise the council on various matters to ensure informed decision-making.
● Public Liaison: Serve as the first point of contact for the public, addressing inquiries and providing
information.
● Data Protection: Acting as the Data Protection Controller for the Parish Council.
Requirements:
● CiLCA (Certificate in Local Council Administration) qualification is desirable but not essential.
● Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.
● Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
● Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
● Proficiency in using office software and managing websites.
● Ability to work independently and proactively.
