FoI - not a money making business!

A recent government review of Freedom of Information has confirmed that charges have been ruled out Government Minister Matt Hancock said "FoI works well" and "there would be no wholesale change to it". Charges may still be made for actual disbursements incurred such as:

  • photocopying, postage and packaging

  • costs incurred directly as a result of viewing information e.g. room hire costs

Charges must be justified and in accordance with the schedule of fees in your publication scheme. See our documents page for more information about a publication scheme.
